
Intake Therapist - PRN Night Shift

Responsibilities
Intake Therapist – PRN/Per Diem, Night Shift, Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is an innovative behavioral health hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services to the people of Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix, Arizona metro area. Our 120-bed facility will offer specialized mental health services and substance use treatment for teens, adults and older adults experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, personality disorders and co-occurring addictions.
Under the direction of the Director of Intake, the Intake Therapist assures that smooth, trauma‑informed and orderly processes are followed for telephonic and in‑person assessments to assist the physician in the identification of an appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Therapist is responsible for initial contact with referral sources, potential patients, coordinating the referral and intake process and the admission process, providing trauma‑informed assessment/treatment of patients, and ability to effectively and timely serve patients, as well as maintaining communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. This position interfaces closely with both internal hospital staff, facility physicians, as well as referring hospitals, patients, families, and community referral sources. The working position of Intake Therapist will complete Intake Therapist duties as well as be cross‑trained in other Intake Department roles such as BHT or Intake Coordinator responsibilities to assist if needed. The Intake Therapist will also at times be responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health.
Preferred Education: Additional specialization in social work, psychology, or mental health with emphasis on trauma‑informed care.
Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience in social services, community, behavioral health, mental‑health, medication management, admissions, intake, crisis intervention, and customer service.
Preferred Experience: 2–3 years of experience in social services, community, behavioral health, mental‑health, medication management, admissions, intake, crisis intervention, and customer service. Prior experience in an assessment or assessment department is a plus.
Required: Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance (or ability to obtain).
