BIM Drafter
Kovach, Chandler, AZ, United States
The BIM Drafter plays a key role in bridging design and fabrication by creating accurate, data‑rich 3D models of façade systems in Revit. This position supports both the drafting and project management teams by ensuring all model outputs such as shop drawings, bills of materials, and releases are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with Kovach standards. While experience with façade systems (metal panels, glazing, or cladding) is preferred, candidates with strong modeling and software proficiency will receive training on Kovach’s specific systems and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Documentation
Develop and maintain Revit models that accurately represent design intent, fabrication details, and field conditions.
Generate shop drawings, bills of materials, and release documentation directly from models.
Ensure models adhere to Kovach BIM standards, templates, and file organization protocols.
Coordination & Collaboration
Work closely with Drafters, Project Managers, and Engineers to ensure models support project goals and fabrication accuracy.
Participate in coordination and clash detection reviews to resolve design conflicts and improve constructability.
Communicate modeling issues and updates clearly through platforms such as Build, Teams, and Bluebeam.
Technology & Workflow Integration
Utilize and maintain proficiency in Revit and associated tools (e.g., Dynamo, Navisworks, etc.).
Assist in developing, testing, and refining BIM workflows that increase efficiency and accuracy across the drafting department.
Support automation and data‑linking efforts between BIM, Excel‑based takeoffs, and fabrication exports.
Ensure consistent deliverables and maintain traceable revision control within all files.
Support ongoing improvement of Kovach BIM standards and contribute to the creation of reusable content libraries.
Training & Continuous Learning
Actively learn Kovach’s proprietary systems, assembly methods, and drafting standards.
Share modeling knowledge and support peer training when applicable.
Stay current with software updates and evolving BIM technologies relevant to façade design and fabrication.
Qualifications
Proficient in Autodesk Revit (required) and Autodesk Inventor (preferred, not required).
Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in architectural drafting, BIM modeling, or digital fabrication.
Experience in façade‑related systems (metal panels, glazing, cladding, or curtain wall) preferred but not required.
Understanding of construction documentation, fabrication drawings, and model‑based coordination workflows.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
