Essential Duties
Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
Assess patients’ post-operative condition
Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
Log all findings in patient files
Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
Skills

Utilization of intelligence and critical thinking in decision-making.
Advanced understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
Proficiency in using specialized medical equipment for surgical care.

Accurate and timely communication of patient care details.
Ability to conduct and interpret diagnostic tests for intervention.
Knowledge of community resources for patient care continuity.
Competence in reading and applying technical instructions.

Consistent practice of hand hygiene and aseptic techniques
Upholding patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Experience Required
2 year of Pre-Op/PACU (RN) experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred.
Acute Care: 1 year (Preferred)
Education / Certification Requirements
Degree in Nursing: Bachelors Preferred
Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
BCLS & ACLS certification required.
PALS certification
