Job Summary
Operates imaging equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.
Job Responsibilities
Performs imaging procedures using appropriate technical and safety method as requested by a licensed physician.
Exercise judgement in selecting and computing settings for each patient.
Develop an appropriate procedure/treatment plan.
Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established protocols/guidelines.
Completes documentation as required to comply with policies and procedures.
Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Participates in departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards. Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement.
Completes assigned goals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Specifications
Experience:
Experience as obtained through the completion of an Ultrasound program.
Education:
Completion of a formal education program in sonography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARDMS or ARRT or CCI. Associates degree in related field.
Special Skills:
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Imaging principals/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results. Demonstrates ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work.
Licensure:
Registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or American Registry of Radiology Technologists ARRT (S), or ARRT (VS), or ARRT (BS), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International CCI RVS; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire; New graduate will obtain required registry within 120 days as required; State license as required.
