Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Quality Inspector located in Otay Mesa, CA. We are seeking a detail-oriented
Weld
Quality Inspector
to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will inspect materials, parts, and weldments throughout the production process to ensure compliance with company standards and the AWS Structural Welding Code. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining product quality by identifying defects, supporting root cause investigations, and ensuring all work meets production and safety standards.
Duties
Perform inspections on structural parts in accordance with AWS standards
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Conduct in-process and final quality inspections
Perform peer audits before materials are received into stock
Verify rework meets required specifications
Identify and report defects; communicate with production teams
Recommend improvements to welding and manufacturing processes
Use measurement tools (tape measure, square, level, protractor, etc.)
Accept or reject parts based on quality standards
Perform random audits and inspections across production
Support root cause analysis for defects (5 Whys, Ishikawa, etc.)
Stop production if quality issues are identified
Document inspection results and maintain accurate records
Collect evidence of defects (photos, samples)
Provide feedback to operators and production teams
Qualifications
Required:
1–2 years of manufacturing or quality inspection experience
Experience using basic inspection and measurement tools
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
Welding experience or background in the welding industry
Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
Experience with eDrawings
Forklift and/or crane operation experience
Internal audit certification
Analytical thinking and root cause problem-solving
Strong accountability and integrity
Hands-on and proactive approach
Ability to provide constructive feedback
Collaborative team mindset
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing facility
Ability to crouch and perform hands-on inspections
Manufacturing environment
Must follow
OSHA safety regulations
and company procedures
Experience using basic inspection and measurement tools
