Administrative Unit Coordinator - ED Secretary, BLS Certified
Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Administrative Unit Coordinator will be vital in supporting emergency department operations. Under the guidance of leadership, you will perform reception and secretarial duties while occasionally assisting with indirect patient care activities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage clerical tasks efficiently, including processing physician orders, coordinating with ancillary departments, and distributing clinical information.
Maintain patient flow awareness and communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families to enhance safety and quality outcomes.
Handle filing, printing, faxing, charge entry, supply inventory, and medical chart preparation for admissions and discharges with accuracy.
Provide indirect patient care such as patient transportation within the department, bedside monitoring setup, and responding to call lights.
Greet patients and visitors warmly, directing them appropriately and keeping them informed throughout their visit.
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and demonstrate professionalism under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
Document all relevant patient information timely and participate in ongoing education, competency testing, and quality audits.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
At least one year of experience in clerical, receptionist, or hospital duties is preferred. Strong typing and computer skills are essential.
Certifications
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus, the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and frequent walking, standing, and turning. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
Working Conditions
Expect intermittent exposure to infectious diseases and potentially hostile individuals. The environment includes potential exposure to communicable diseases and radiation, with frequent interruptions and distractions.
