The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant
The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This professional position is responsible for direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional administrative duties are performed as assigned.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient exercise, gait training, functional activities (ADL, transfers), safety, and prosthetic training following the plan of care.
Track, record, and report patient responses and changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician.
Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other team members on therapy participation.
Complete a daily note for each visit and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist to develop and adjust the Plan of Treatment.
Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice and professional regulations.
Report progress, complications, or treatment responses to the Physical Therapist.
Assist the Physical Therapist with procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective care.

Qualifications
Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the assigned state.
Ability to follow directions from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient safety.
Capacity to work independently with periodic support and direction.
