The Prototype Machine Shop Team provides engineers and technicians across the organization with complex and critical machined components and assemblies to meet the most aggressive program objectives. Through close collaboration with a world‑class team of fellow machinists, fabricators, engineers, and leadership, we enhance the design of systems and products from concept through production by bringing intangible ideas to the physical world.
As a CNC Machinist on the Prototype Team, you will contribute to a range of projects from concept and pre‑production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other future‑facing initiatives. What You'll Do
Efficiently set up and operate a variety of 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills and lathes (GF Mikron, Hermle, DMG, Matsuura, Haas) in a low‑volume / high‑mix workflow
Collaborate with senior machinists to review, plan, and execute work based on project requirements
Cut materials, build tooling, build fixtures, prove and run programs at the machine, deburr and finish parts, measure and validate parts meet engineering specifications
Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
Proactively track, document, and provide direct feedback with clear communication to management, engineers, programmers, and other machinists on design, process, project status and outcomes
Identify, present, plan, and implement shop improvements
Maintain shop equipment and keep your workplace clean and organized
Perform all assignments in a safe manner while adhering to security policies
What You'll Bring
3+ cumulative years of machine shop experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes
Experience with basic shop equipment, machines, and measurement tools (forklift, manual mill, engine lathe, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore‑micrometers, optical comparator, etc.)
Working knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
Ability to learn and operate multiple CNC controls (Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens, Haas)
Ability to efficiently set up and operate multiple work‑centers simultaneously
Excellent communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information through verbal, email, text, phone, Microsoft Office suite, and other digital communication platforms
Self‑driven with positive energy and attitude and eagerness to learn and grow
Excellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management
Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team with minimal supervision
Flexibility - ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company

Expected Compensation
$27.92 - $44.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
