Student Services Secretary
The student services secretary plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the school office. They are often the first point of contact for students and visitors. Duties range from clerical tasks to providing support to students, school staff, and handling administrative responsibilities. Hourly pay starting at $20.00. Assigned workday calendar: 206 days (school year days). Job status: part-time - 29 hours per week. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 3:30pm. Part-time positions are eligible for supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF retirement. Not eligible for medical and dental insurance. Eligible for holiday pay and paid time off benefits.
Education: A high school diploma is required; additional education or training in office administration is a plus. Certification: None is required. Experience: None is required, but previous experience in office administration, school environments, or customer service is preferred. Skills and knowledge: Experience using school management software or other administrative tools is preferred. Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Essential functions: Answer phones. Assist students and teachers. Assist with backpack searches. Enter discipline and dress code violations. Arrange drug testing. Process early dismissals. Educlimber entries. Monitor in-school suspension/lunch detentions. Locker assignments. Administer student passes. Monitor student check-in and enter into PowerSchool. Monitor teacher assistants (TAs). Process tardy sweeps. Other duties as assigned.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
