Position Overview

Lecturer – Department of Psychology, UC San Diego.
Salary range: $70,977–$84,752. Pay determined by appointment type, rank, or step under the Unit 18 Faculty Pre-Six Year Lecturers, Academic Year Salary Scale.
Application window: open on April 20, 2026; final date: April 20, 2027. Positions will be announced throughout the 2026‑2027 academic year depending on departmental needs.
Location: San Diego, CA. Classes are taught in person on the UC San Diego campus.
Responsibilities

Teach large courses (200 or more students) and small classes (~150 students or fewer).
Effective instruction of students, teaching classes in accordance with course objectives and published schedules, advising students on academic matters, and maintaining an active interest in advances and current thinking in the subject area.
Additional duties include managing Teaching Assistants, holding office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials such as syllabi, maintaining a course website, and mentoring graduate student Teaching Assistants for large courses.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications
ABD or Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Psychology or a closely related field at time of application.
Prior teaching, research, or practice experience relevant to the course(s) to which applying (teaching experience may include teaching assistantships).
Additional qualifications (required at time of appointment)
Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Psychology or a closely related field at time of appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Prior college‑level teaching experience.
Experience managing large classrooms (50–400 students).
Positive teaching evaluations.
