Faculty Physician / Clinician Educator (Chatham Hospital)

Location and Availability
North Carolina, United States – 40 hours per week. Full‑time. Position open until filled.

Position Summary
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in partnership with UNC Health Care System, seeks a Faculty Physician/Clinician Educator for Chatham Hospital in Siler City. Chatham is a critical‑access hospital staffed exclusively by UNC family medicine faculty. The candidate will provide clinical care, supervise trainees, teach medical students, and participate in scholarly activity, focusing on care for underserved populations.

Responsibilities

Clinical:

Cover labor & delivery, including surgical coverage; women's health clinic and women’s health surgery. Depending on qualifications, additional duties may include hospitalist, continuity clinic, and/or specialty clinics.

Teaching & Education:

Provide instruction to residents, medical students, and fellows in a rich learning environment.

Research:

Develop scholarly work; expected to produce a publication or national presentation approximately every one to two years.

Supervision:

Lead a team that may include a midwife, nurse practitioner, and/or physician assistant.

Institutional Citizenship:

Participate in efforts to improve access, reduce costs, and enhance quality; engage in community outreach, professional events, documentation, patient satisfaction, and physician satisfaction.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

MD or DO, board‑eligible or board‑certified in Family Medicine.

Completed an ACGME‑approved 3‑year family medicine residency with strong perinatal training.

Mandatory fellowship training in operative obstetrics.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Fellowship training in operative obstetrics and/or an advanced degree (e.g., MPH).

Experience working in rural or underserved settings.

Prior teaching experience with residents, students, or fellows.
