Equipment Manager
Job Location: US-VA-Alexandria

Overview
Oversees all activities in the purchase, rental, inventory, negotiation, maintenance, dispatch, and billing of one or more project equipment fleet and materials.

This position will support our Long Bridge North project, which will expand a current two‑track rail corridor to four tracks, significantly reducing rail congestion in southwest Washington DC. Construction will include 1.8 miles of improvements, 7 new bridges, and 20,000 feet of track. After completion, Long Bridge will increase rail traffic capacity for CSX, Virginial Railway Express, and Amtrak trains.

Responsibilities

Source all services, materials, maintenance providers and heavy equipment for projects in one or more district operations.

Supervise and direct activities for heavy equipment and maintenance personnel.

Negotiate contracts, purchase agreements and maintenance services to support corporate objectives and national agreements where possible.

Manage and monitor all heavy equipment functions for one or more district operations, including maintenance and repair scheduling, equipment delivery, etc.

Arrange minor repairs and transportation of equipment to and from the jobsite(s) as necessary.

Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

Analyze equipment needs and determine equipment repair expenditures, escalating to the Director of Equipment for approval as necessary.

Negotiate and approve short‑ and long‑term agreements within financial parameters determined by corporate policy and manager. Review and understand contract agreements and payment terms.

Monitor utilization of equipment and material usage and hours to identify cost savings opportunities and cost coding accuracy. Report utilization to division operations or project leadership within prescribed frequency to support business objectives and cost control.

Lead inventory procedures and tracking for yards on one or more project sites.

Recommend disposal and rental terminations for equipment based on utilization tracking.

Maintain knowledge of company's values and strategic plan.

Support published corporate policies.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

5+ years Heavy Equipment Management experience required.

Mechanical maintenance and repairs experience required.

Valid Driver's License.

Equipment Management Specialists (EMS) preferred.

Knowledge of corporate equipment regulations regarding licensing, registration, environmental guidelines, etc.

Coordination and mult‑tasking skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of licensing and legal requirements regarding local and national equipment rental.

Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions to management.

Knowledge of corporate billing software and MS Office Suite preferred.
