Job Summary
Sulzer Services is seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities for service, repair, and aftermarket operations. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services required to support field service and shop operations while ensuring cost competitiveness, quality, delivery performance, and compliance with Sulzer procurement policies. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, suppliers, and inventory management to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to customers across critical industries.
Key Responsibilities
Procure materials, spare parts, components, and services to support service, overhaul, and repair operations for rotating equipment
Source from approved and qualified suppliers in alignment with Sulzer procurement strategies
Issue and manage purchase orders in ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, on-time delivery, and service levels
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms within defined authority levels
Expedite critical orders to support customer commitments and minimize downtime
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to clarify specifications and alternative sourcing options
Support inventory optimization by balancing demand, lead times, and stock levels
Ensure compliance with Sulzer policies, contractual terms, ethical sourcing, and HSE requirements
Resolve order discrepancies, invoice issues, and supplier claims
Maintain accurate procurement documentation and supplier records
Support continuous improvement initiatives within supply chain and procurement processes
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
5–7 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within Industrial services, Manufacturing, Oil & gas, Power generation, Rotating equipment, or engineered products
Experience sourcing machined parts, castings, fabricated components, and repair services preferred
Strong understanding of purchasing processes, lead times, and supplier management
Skills & Competencies
Strong negotiation and commercial skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365 experience preferred)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and logistics
Results-driven with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
