PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a Field Manager for a direct-hire opportunity supporting nationwide infrastructure transformation initiatives. This role is essential to the successful execution of data centre exits, real estate rationalisation programs, and telecom-focused projects. As the on-site lead, you will drive coordination, quality, and communication to ensure each project phase is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards.

What you’ll do
On-Site Leadership
Lead day-to-day execution of data centre exit activities across multiple sites, including installation, commissioning, migration, decommissioning, and site clearance.
Coordinate field engineers, subcontractors, and logistics partners to maintain project momentum.
Validate deliverables, monitor timelines, and act as the primary customer contact during on-site operations.
Coordinate with logistics teams for secure removal, transport, or disposal of equipment.
Travel to sites as required to provide coaching, performance oversight, and hands‑on support.
Client Interaction & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the central point of engagement for clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing consistent progress updates.
Address concerns quickly and professionally to protect timelines and customer satisfaction.
Align internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders around project goals, scope, and deliverables.
Quality Assurance
Implement a comprehensive quality control program across all field work.
Conduct inspections, identify non‑conformance issues, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
Maintain detailed records of inspections, defect tracking, and resolution efforts.
Champion continuous improvement around safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Team Mobilisation & Performance Management
Participate in recruiting and onboarding new field team members for upcoming projects.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to support team growth and accountability.
Partner with the Project Lead on resource planning to ensure teams are staffed appropriately.
Validate the technical output of field personnel across all project phases.
Subcontractor Sourcing & Management
Lead the full subcontractor lifecycle, including sourcing, pre‑qualification, selection, and contracting.
Execute a structured onboarding process to ensure full compliance with safety, documentation, and quality standards.
Monitor subcontractor performance against SLAs and project requirements.
Maintain compliance documentation, including contracts, insurance, and certifications.
Reporting & Documentation
Deliver timely KPI reporting to senior staff, including metrics on project completion, quality control, team productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Ensure project milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved in line with agreed schedules with the Project Management Team.
Maintain accurate records of field activities, inspections, and deliverables.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience managing field-based teams within data centre, telecommunication, or critical infrastructure projects.
Strong project execution and timeline management skills.
Knowledge of OSP, DWDM, SONET, and IP infrastructure.
Understanding of best practices in installation and commissioning.
Excellent leadership and people management capabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage directly with customers, subcontractors, or landlords on‑site.
Detail‑oriented with the ability to validate technical deliverables.
Knowledge of health & safety requirements and site compliance in data centre or telecommunication environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills and ability to manipulate large datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification.
Experience supporting data centre migrations, exits, or large-scale infrastructure transitions.
Prior hands‑on field experience in telecom environments.
Familiarity with commissioning, installation, decommissioning, and technical field processes.
