As the Design and Construction- Mission Critical, Vice President on the Global Real Estate team, you will lead the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure across a growing global portfolio. Acting as the owner’s representative, you will integrate internal teams and third-party partners to deliver high-value assets safely and predictably, aligned with enterprise standards. This work enables business continuity, technology growth, and long-term operational resilience.
Job Responsibilities
Provide portfolio level leadership for the data center real estate programs from predevelopment planning through handover
Own delivery outcomes for schedule, cost, quality, risk and operational readiness
Oversee design, construction, commissioning, training, and closeout/turnover activities across multiple projects
Establish governance and performance expectations for third-party project managers, cost managers and consultants
Lead procurement strategy, contract administration, and change management activities
Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders including Technology, Engineering & Operations, Security, Finance and Procurement
Review designs and construction methodologies for constructability, risk, and execution feasibility
Serve as escalation point for cross-programmatic issues requiring executive decision making
Ensure alignment with GRE Data Center standards, security requirements, and commissioning best practices
Drive consistent reporting, risk visibility, and partner engagement across the programs
Support next generation data center predevelopment and long-term capacity planning
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
10+ years leading large-scale, mission-critical or mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and process construction programs.
Proven experience delivering complex data center or critical infrastructure projects
Strong background in engineering, construction management, or data center operations
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-project portfolios and external delivery partners
Expertise in schedule, cost, risk and change management at a program level
Experience administering consultant and contractor agreements
Ability to balance technical rigor with business, cost, and schedule priorities
Strong executive communication, leadership presence, and judgement
Working knowledge of data center construction techniques, systems, and local codes
Ability to elevate issues appropriately and drive timely decisions
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (advanced degree, certifications or professional engineering licenses)
Experience overseeing hyperscale or multi-campus data center portfolios
Direct exposure to Utility coordination, substations, and infrastructure upgrades
Background working across multiple geographies and regulatory environments
Experience with alternative procurement models and commissioning programs
Familiarity with operational readiness and security requirements
Demonstrated success leading through third-party PM and Cost Management models
