Landscaping Crew Lead

Schedule:
1 Day a Week (Tuesday) - Every Other Week
Shift:
7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Times may vary based on inclement weather)
Location:
Charlotte Airport Traffic Control Tower
Position:
Hands‑on leader who guides and trains a landscaping crew while performing high‑quality landscape work.
Responsibilities
Lead a small team of landscaping laborers during scheduled shifts (2 days/month, every other week, 8 hours per shift).
Assign daily tasks and ensure team members understand expectations and safety protocols.
Provide on‑the‑job guidance, support, and training to crew members as needed.
Actively participate in landscaping tasks alongside the team, including mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, mulching, and general grounds maintenance.
Ensure proper care and use of tools and equipment during each shift.
Conduct end‑of‑day walkthroughs to verify all assigned tasks were completed to company standards.
Identify and address any missed or substandard work before the shift ends.
Maintain basic records of work completed, attendance, and any incidents or equipment issues.
Communicate with management regarding scheduling, supply needs, or personnel concerns.
Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and company policies.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on commercial landscaping experience, including mowing, trimming, planting, and general grounds maintenance.
Experience operating landscaping equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
Solid understanding of landscaping techniques, materials, and equipment.
Understands and follows OSHA safety guidelines and procedures on the job site.
Communicates clearly, professionally, and respectfully with team members and clients.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred / Bonus Skills
Experience conducting basic site inspections or quality control walkthroughs.
Experience implementing safety measures and maintaining a secure job site.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team to meet goals and deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
Familiarity with sustainable landscaping practices.
Ability to handle minor conflicts or issues calmly and professionally.
Ability to foster a positive, productive work environment and encourage teamwork.

Requires sufficient hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and perform detailed tasks.
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
May involve exposure to dust, pollen, fertilizers, and other landscaping materials or chemicals.
Requires visual acuity to inspect work quality, identify hazards, and ensure safety compliance.
Must be able to hear and respond to verbal instructions, equipment sounds, and environmental cues.
Involves navigating uneven terrain, slopes, and potentially slippery or muddy surfaces.
May require wearing personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and boots.
