Overview
NaphCare is hiring a Safety Watch Monitor to join our medical team in Elba, AL. As a Correctional Safety Watch Monitor, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will have various duties to keep you engaged and make a difference to this diverse patient population with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Conduct one‑on‑one direct observation of patients at risk of self‑injury or suicide.
Under the supervision of a licensed behavioral health professional, conduct observational rounds on suicide watch and/or in selected behavioral health settings.
Reliably document and communicate observations of patients on suicide watch and/or housed in behavioral health units.
Perform crisis intervention and de‑escalation as indicated.
Monitor patients and promote prosocial behavior.
Participate in unit treatment team planning.
Document critical incidents and treatment progress in patients’ medical record at the discretion of supervisor.
Participate in unit morning reports and regular unit staff meetings.
Facilitate community meetings as needed.
Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to effectively interact with institutional and clinical staff.
Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement.
Background check, security clearance and drug screening are required.
Physical Capabilities:
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
