The Opportunity
Are you a compassionate individual who wants to make a direct, positive impact on those navigating the path to recovery? Shepherd’s Recovery & Counseling Services Inc. is looking for a dedicated Support Specialist to join our Oklahoma City team. In this role, you will be on the front lines of care, providing essential daily support, encouragement, and guidance to clients as they work toward lasting mental wellness.
What You Will Do
Client Care:
Provide direct, empathetic support to clients, assisting them with daily schedules and their ongoing recovery goals.
Environment:
Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for all clients at our facility.
Team Collaboration:
Assist clinical and case management staff with coordinating care, facilitating group sessions, and organizing daily activities.
Observation & Documentation:
Monitor client well-being, observe behaviors, and accurately document interactions and progress in daily logs.
Mentorship:
Serve as a positive role model, offering encouragement, active listening, and emotional support during challenging moments.
What You Need (Requirements)
Experience:
Previous experience in behavioral health, substance abuse recovery, or a related human services role is highly preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required (coursework in social services or psychology is a plus).
Certifications:
A Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) certification or similar credential is a strong bonus!
Skills:
Excellent communication, active listening, and the ability to remain calm and helpful during stressful situations.
Mindset:
Deeply empathetic, dependable, and committed to maintaining healthy, professional boundaries while championing client success.
