GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Panel Wirer is responsible for preparing and installing electrical wiring of signal and power circuits for shelters to achieve quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Uses written instructions, prints, schematics, and verbal instructions to prepare, locate and install wiring circuits, harnesses, cable assemblies, electrical sub-assemblies, and accessories in shelter systems. This includes both benchwork and shelter installations.

Installation of large wire connectors, different‑sized multi‑pin connectors, cable assemblies, ESD knowledge, handling, and installation of fiber optic cables.

Uses the associated tools and equipment to perform different operations such as wire cutting, labeling, stripping, and crimping all wire sizes.

When certified, performs soldering operations that include all wire sizes (large to small) using soldering stations, soldering pots, resistance, and induction soldering equipment.

Maintains, cleans, and adjusts tools and equipment for electrical operations.

Uses test equipment (fixed gauges, power supplies, multi‑meters) to perform continuity testing and troubleshoot problems on electrical sub‑assemblies, bench, and shelter wiring installations. This may include live circuits.

Uses various tools, including electric/pneumatic drills, rivet poppers, hand/pneumatic wire terminal crimpers, and Artos and Komax wire cutting and stripping machines.

Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Performs other related duties and assignments.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

Ability to obtain IPC J‑STD, IPC‑610, and IPC/WHMA‑620 certifications.

Knowledge of Control Circuit Wiring.

Basic computer skills required.

Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Knowledge of 120/220 single‑phase wiring and all applications of different voltages of three‑phase wiring.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required.

A vocational degree in a related electrical field is preferred.

Minimum one year of relevant experience.

Must supply basic hand tools to perform job requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Shop floor environment / shared workbench or workstation.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors).

Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
