Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center, a subsidiary of UHS, is a beautiful, conveniently located, private 182‑bed hospital that specializes in the treatment of drug addiction, mental health issues and concurrent disorders for adults as well as adolescents. Qualifications
Education / Training
Current license to practice in Florida
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.
Experience
Minimum of two years in a Psychiatric Behavioral Health Center environment or health‑care facility treating mentally ill or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co‑occurring disorders and cultural‑linguistic diversity among patients.
Must have supervisory experience.
Licensure / Certification
Current Florida State Registered Nurse License
Current Florida Driver’s License
Current CPR Certification
Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
Knowledge of milieu management.
Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties; accurate medication administration and monitoring side‑effects.
Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
Sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultures and their practices.
