Job Summary
The Therapist in the Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic provides competent, patient‑centered, evidence‑based services under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness. The primary purpose is to enhance the clinic’s capacity to provide high‑quality psychotherapy—including individual, couple, and family services—through intake, assessment, treatment planning, therapy, and discharge processes.
Responsibilities
Deliver behavioral health and wellness services, including educational, psycho‑educational, and psychotherapeutic interventions, with a focus on individual, couple, and family psychotherapy. Provide on‑call/after‑hours care as required.
Participate in administrative tasks related to program development, marketing, research, and financial/billing operations.
Stay current on developments in HIV treatment and mental health/substance use conditions.
Ensure patients receive quality assessments, accurate diagnoses, and appropriate referrals for substance use disorders.
Prepare, formulate, and evaluate treatment plans based on assessment and diagnosis, aiming to improve patients’ overall quality of life.
Manage treatment plans in consultation with appropriate persons and service providers.
Act as a liaison between patients and their collateral contacts.
Prepare accurate and timely reports, correspondence, and patient record documentation.
Maintain official case records with all necessary information, documents, and evaluations.
Develop knowledge of and maintain communication with specialized service providers and community resources to facilitate patient access and coordinate care.
Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and continuing education events/trainings.
Report regularly to the Director on all assigned responsibilities.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Director and maintain adherence to all agency policies, including confidentiality, health care compliance, and standards of conduct.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
Accredited Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of service.
Experience delivering in‑person, video‑based, and telephone‑based therapy.
Experience providing behavioral health and wellness services, including mental health and substance abuse services.
Knowledge of behavioral health programming for mental health and substance use services.
Knowledge of and experience treating co‑occurring disorders.
Knowledge of, or eagerness to learn about, the HIV/AIDS patient population.
Understanding of evidence‑based practices in behavioral health and wellness.
Commitment to cultural sensitivity and cultural accountability.
Ability to work as part of a team offering services.
Will value diversity and provide equitable treatment to patients, clients, and colleagues.
Flexibility in hours.
Working knowledge of Spanish (bilingual) is a plus.

HIV experience in a not‑for‑profit environment.
