
Dental Hygienist - Perdiem

Position Summary
Dental Hygienist will conduct initial patient examinations, perform prophylaxis, take dental X‑rays, polish teeth, administer fluoride treatments, and advise patients on oral health and preventative care. The candidate will maintain paperless documentation of patients’ medical history, vitals, and progress notes. Responsibilities also include decontamination and sterilization of dental instruments and the treatment room. The Hygienist will collaborate closely with dental residents to provide coordinated, patient‑centered oral health care in accordance with the policies and protocols of St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center and the primary care center.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial patient examinations, prophylaxis, dental X‑rays, polishing, and fluoride treatment.
Document patient history, vitals, and progress notes in an electronic system.
Decontaminate and sterilize dental instruments and treatment rooms.
Collaborate with dental residents to coordinate patient‑centered care.
Follow hospital and primary‑care center policies and protocols.
Participate in orientation, continuing education, and skill maintenance.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene school.
Licensed and registered to practice in New York State.
Minimum of one year experience as a hygienist in a general dental practice or health‑care agency (preferred).
Strong communication and technical skills.
Ability to make independent decisions and handle emergency situations.
Good time‑management skills.
Employment Details
Full time, Day Shift. Perdiem. Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5:00. 101 Union Ave., Syracuse, New York.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Office/clinical setting. Exposure class I. Medium work requiring standing, walking, sitting, and lifting.
Pay
Pay Range: $30.00 – $43.50 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary by location.
