
Lead Histology Technician

Job Summary
The Histotechnician Lead performs technical and non-technical procedures related to the preparation of tissue and production of slides while maintaining the highest standard of quality.
Job Responsibilities
Support and execute all management objectives and directives.
Serve as a role model to department employees ensuring a sense of urgency and pride.
Help to monitor and coordinate the flow of specimens and/or slides from embedding, microtomy, and distribution, while ensuring accurate and timely completion of shift functions.
Assist with staff training.
Perform troubleshooting of problem cases
Assist with stain validations
Maintain and operate tissue processor effectively and with precise documentation
Gross tissue as directed
Embed all types of tissue
Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue
Follow all set protocols and procedures for technical and non-technical tasks
Keep embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and clutter free and maintain proper QC.
Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or change re-agents on machines as needed and directed.
Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures.
Perform pathologist case assembly and distribution as needed
File and retrieve blocks and slides as needed
Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste
Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
Non-essential Functions
Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
