Description
Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (Temporary, part-time) faculty applicant pool for the discipline of Counseling.

Representative Duties

Provide academic advisement for students.

Create educational plans.

Assist students who wish to transfer, may be on academic probation or need to declare an academic major.

Assignments may include working during the day or evening.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicant Must Meet One Of The Following Requirements

Most current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges: Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling or the equivalent.

Antelope Valley College Equivalency: No Antelope Valley College Equivalency.

(Note: A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline, pursuant to Title V, Section 53410.1.)

A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).

Letter of intent that addresses minimum and desirable qualifications.

Scanned copy of official transcripts with required degree(s). Foreign transcripts and degrees require official certification of equivalency to U.S. transcripts and degrees by a certified U.S. review service at the time of application and must identify graduate level coursework.

Two (2) current letters of professional reference signed and dated within the last year.

Applications with incomplete information (e.g., statements such as “see resume”) or missing documents will not be considered.

Applicants may be subject to passing an examination (written/technical), as appropriate to the requirements of the position.

Residency within a reasonable geographical area of the college may be necessary.
