About Fort Logan
The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) is one of two state psychiatric hospitals serving Colorado residents with acute mental illnesses and/or court‑ordered inpatient restoration treatment. Our vision is to provide exemplary inpatient psychiatric care to residents with acute, serious and persistent mental health needs. CMHHIFL offers individualized patient care, supporting hope, health, and recovery through innovative, evidence‑based practices. The hospital provides inpatient treatment to adult patients, generally between the ages of 18–59, and has 94 civil adult inpatient beds and 60 forensic beds. Medical, rehabilitation, and clinical programming are available based on treatment needs.
About This Work Unit
The position works in a 24‑hour state psychiatric hospital with individuals voluntarily and involuntarily committed to treatment. Treatment teams are multidisciplinary, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, addiction specialists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, creative arts therapists, nurses, physicians, and mental health clinicians, as well as dietary, peer, and chaplain services.
Description Of Job
Deliver medications to treatment teams and retrieve returned medications for the pharmacy. Ensure accurate prescription filling, including floor stock items, controlled substances, discharge medications, and unit dose cassettes. Process Medicare Part D claims, complete associated paperwork, and enter data electronically. Manage controlled drugs requisitions—packaging, filling, and delivering pharmaceuticals—using pharmacy logs and nursing control substance sign‑out logs. Verify controlled drugs on‑hand in the computer system, assign lot numbers, and obtain necessary signatures from nurses and pharmacists. Pre‑package and label medications for unit dose dispensing, properly return unused medication to inventory, and document all processes. Order pharmaceuticals and supplies for daily pharmacy operations, receive items, and store them with accurate paperwork and data entry.
Minimum Qualifications
Current certification or provisional certification as a Pharmacy Technician from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.
Two (2) years of experience in a related occupational field.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of recent experience filling, labeling, and storing drugs in a pharmacy setting.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective collaboration with pharmacy and healthcare professionals.
Exceptional organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
Ability to maintain adequate inventory and supplies.
Basic computer literacy and basic mathematical computation skills.
Customer service and problem‑solving ability.
Teamwork orientation.
Ability to meet work schedules.
