Role Overview
The Senior Vascular Sonographer performs high-quality diagnostic imaging using ultrasound equipment to assess blood vessels and related conditions. The role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment and ensures patient safety while maintaining imaging standards. The sonographer serves as a lead when direct leadership is unavailable, is an expert resource, and assists in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for optimal care.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours OR received on-the-job training by a preceptor who is registered in Cardiac ultrasound.
Experience: Two (2) years of relevant experience.
Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
Certification: ARDMS (RVT) or CCI(RVS) or ARRT(RVS); Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred Qualifications
Capability to make informed decisions regarding imaging procedures, patient care, and team management.
Ability to lead and motivate a team.
Knowledge in producing diagnostic images proficiently with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
Proficient knowledge in producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
Knowledge of a variety of advanced procedures as applicable.
Knowledge of safe & proper machine operation.
Knowledge of machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures.
Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements
Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis, prolonged standing and walking during each shift, and the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
Loan Repayment Assistance Program
The Imaging Loan Repayment Assistance Program provides financial support to our Mercy Imaging co-workers in a 24X7 hospital based eligible position who are in a .4 FTE and above, working 32 hours or more per pay period. The program offers monthly payments made directly to the loan servicer up to the amount of $370 per month and up to $20,000 for a lifetime maximum.
