Required Education and Experience
HS
State Registered Nurse Assistant (SRNA)
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Registered Nurse (RN) nursing student who completed first fundamental course and a clinical
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/medic including military medic
Graduate from a medical assistant program
Graduate from a licensed practical nursing program
Clinical Services Technician (CST) III at UK in the last 12 months
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire through American Heart Association (AHA)
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; and be exposed to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; may require overtime and holiday work.
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) will provide direct patient care and clinical support to providers. Responsibilities include obtaining patient medical history, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic supplies, navigating electronic health record systems, scheduling and following up with appointments, assisting with medication fill requests, prior authorizations, and scheduling tests, procedures, and consults. The MA will communicate respectfully with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians in accordance with UK Healthcare behavioral expectations for service excellence.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Perform EKGs, obtain vital signs, CLIA-waived testing, ear irrigation, exam assistance, and other assigned duties
Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Education/Experience
Preferred experience in patient care and at least one year of clinical experience.
