We are seeking a dynamic candidate to join the Primary Health Solutions team as a Pharmacy Technician at our Middletown and Hamilton Bever centers.

A Day in the Life of a Pharmacy Technician

Performs data entry, including patient demographic, billing, medical history, and prescription information.

Completes prior authorizations accurately, obtains correct prior authorization form or platform, knows appropriate clinical information to obtain and submit.

Understands ordering, data entry, and handling for limited distribution drugs.

Handles hazardous drugs appropriately.

Familiar with Medicare Part D structure and copays; familiar with Medicare Part B requirements; able to screen patients for patient assistance and enroll in appropriate patient assistance programs.

Verifies posting reports and corrects tickets to ensure changes are posted to patient accounts, and identifies issues or problems that need to be resolved.

Answers phones and makes outbound refill reminder calls.

Effectively triages customer questions and needs to the appropriate staff member.

Addresses customer basic questions regarding wait times and medication in-stock positions.

Conducts customer outreach calls regarding compliance and routine matters in accordance with the patient management program.

Counts and measures proper dosage forms, selects appropriate containers for dispensing, and labels product accurately and in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Follows up with insurance companies in a timely manner regarding prior authorizations and billing.

Receives inventory and updates perpetual counts as per policy.

Receives and stores incoming supplies.

Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.

Upholds patients’ rights, including privacy and confidentiality.

Provides excellent customer service as evidenced by a willingness and ability to assist customers with their questions or concerns, treating customers in a friendly and helpful manner, and maintaining a positive attitude.

Follows cold storage management protocols.

Prepares and coordinates medications for shipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Success Requirements

Current and in good standing Pharmacy Technician registration from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.

Bilingual, Spanish speaking a plus.

High School Diploma/GED required as verified by Pharmacy Technician registration.

Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred, or equivalent combination of education and training.

Experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a similar role.

Ability to handle confidential information.

Problem solver that can adapt to changes.

Attention to detail.
