Unit Secretary Per Diem, Day - Labor and Delivery
POSITION SUMMARY
The Unit Secretary performs a variety of general clerical and non-clinical patient duties, facilitates communication, expedites interdepartmental services and complies and keeps records required on the nursing unit. Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor, the Unit Secretary has accountability for the responsibilities listed below. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend Super User training for the Care Collaborative System.
Participate in integrated testing for the Care Collaborative System.
Assist in the Care Collaborative System training for new employees.
Assist with unit set-up of equipment, supplies, patient rooms, etc.
Assist with unit orientation of new employees.
Assist with creating useful “How To” handouts for the Care Collaborative System.
Any other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager to assure the unit is ready for the hospital opening.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Education
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency
B. Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of 1 year working as a Unit Secretary in an acute care hospital.
C. Special Skills/Knowledge
Basic computer skills
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB) within 90 days of hire or notification of requirement
Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred.
