Position: Nursing Academic Coach
Department: Academic Excellence - Assessment & Academic Coaching
Reports to: Manager, Test Center, Academic Coaching & Tutoring
Travel: One or two days per week
Location: Green Bay
Standard Hours: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility for other hours as needed.
Starting Pay Range: $61,131.20 - $65,894 per year
Position Summary
The Nursing Academic Coach collaborates with Nursing Faculty to provide direct support to learners, increase course success and persistence. Responsibilities include developing informational materials, facilitating access to resources, conducting weekly workshops on course content, and helping learners develop study skills that match their individual learning styles.
Essential Functions
Deliver group coaching focused on medical surgical nursing, care plan development, clinical time management, priority setting, application of theory from classroom to bedside, pharmacology, and other nursing skills for all nursing students.
Collaborate with faculty to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate review sessions.
Observe classroom instruction and activities to align coaching sessions with curriculum.
Plan, prepare, and develop teaching tools to enhance student performance; assess and recommend nursing interventions for managing test anxiety and negative mindsets. Promote health and wellness strategies to prepare students for a high‑stress career.
Create a welcoming learning environment for students requiring additional academic assistance.
Observe student performance, record data, interview, assess, and collaborate to build plans that address test‑taking challenges; empower students with study and test‑taking strategies tailored to their learning style.
Collaborate with accommodation services, library services, and other academic coaches to develop strategies that optimize student success and retention.
Attend and participate in team meetings, the Quality Review Process, and advisory committee meetings.
Collaborate with other Academic Coaches to identify and standardize best practices across all learning teams.
Serve as a resource in recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling nursing tutors.
Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Minimum two years of Registered Nursing (RN) experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, Workday, Canvas SIS, Starfish Early Alert, and basic computer software.
Knowledge of adult learning styles and strategies to enhance learning.
Valid driver's license and eligibility for district insurance.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
Physical Demands
Extended sitting while working on a computer or attending meetings.
Mobility around campus to attend meetings and events.
Manual dexterity for handling office equipment and controls.
Visual and auditory ability to read documents and communicate with students and staff.
Light lifting up to 25 pounds.
