Tufts Medical Center’s Department of Radiology is a level‑I trauma center offering advanced cardiac imaging and transplant services, including liver, renal, and cardiac transplants. It provides comprehensive diagnostic imaging for cancer, musculoskeletal, neuro, and other specialties. The department maintains an ACGME‑accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program and fellowship programs in MRI and Emergency & Trauma Radiology.
Position Summary
The Vice Chair of Quality (VCQ) will develop and implement quality improvement programs, ensuring alignment with departmental and institutional goals. The VCQ will serve as a clinical leader, teaching and mentoring residents and fellows, and work closely with the department Chair and other leaders to support core missions of the department.
Responsibilities
Analyze actionable incidental findings and ensure appropriate follow‑up and patient care.
Standardize peer‑learning practices and best practices within the department.
Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure adherence to regulations and standards related to quality and safety.
Collaborate with the Chair, Vice Chair of Operations, Section Chiefs, Executive Director, Director of Clinical Administration, Chief of Technologists, and residency/fellowship leadership.
Qualifications
Medical degree (MD, DO, or foreign equivalent); American Board of Radiology certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
Active medical license in Massachusetts.
Relevant training and/or experience in quality improvement, patient safety, peer‑learning, M&M, and excellence in patient care.
Ability to be appointed at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, preference for Associate or Full Professor.
1.0 FTE position.
Experience
Track record of productivity in academic radiology.
Experience leading quality improvement and patient safety projects.
Ability to set key performance indicators for quality and safety.
Proficiency with tools such as cause‑effect diagram, driver diagram, failure‑mode and effects analysis, run chart, control chart, pareto chart, and PDSA worksheet.
Mentoring trainees and faculty.
Willingness to challenge status quo and execute change.
Collaboration with technologists, nurses, and admin staff.
Strong commitment to departmental culture of mutual assistance for patient care.
Leadership roles in national societies or SIGs; invited talks/teaching experience (optional).
