
Senior Custodian - Santa Monica Hospital

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
You will work under the supervision of a custodial supervisor. Cleans assigned area/s, patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary rooms, exam rooms, procedure rooms, conference rooms, offices, hallways, corridors, public areas, etc. Operates vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall washing machines, shampoo machines and floor machines. Sweeps, strips and waxes floors. Performs isolation room cleaning. Performs high and low dusting. Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces using approved cleaning solutions. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Knowledge in the correct use and storage of disinfectants, cleaning solutions, soaps, detergents and floor waxes preferred. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members and staff
Ability to read and understand procedures, memos, labels, directions, forms, and signage
Ability to write and maintain accurate, legible records and logs
Physical ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods
Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to push and pull cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, carts, vacuum cleaners, and other powered equipment
Ability to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital, healthcare, or hotel setting preferred
Two to three years of housekeeping experience in a healthcare environment and / or L.A. Unified School District Janitorial Services certification preferred
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
