Job Summary
Prost Alehouse is seeking a skilled and passionate Head Brewer to take ownership of our brewing operations and help shape the next chapter of our story. Our current Head Brewer is relocating out of state for family reasons, and we’re looking for the right person to step into this role. You’ll manage all aspects of beer production from grain to glass, including recipe development, brewing, cellaring, packaging, and taproom support. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited to grow with an award‑winning, community‑focused brewery. Start date: ASAP
Responsibilities
Recipe development and innovation
Manage brewhouse operations and execute all brewing phases (grain handling, wort production, yeast management, fermentation, dry hopping, packaging).
Cellaring, packaging (Crowlers, Cans, Kegs), and QA/QC
Oversee local distribution, including keg logistics, inventory allocation, and coordination with accounts
Team leadership, training and accountability
Equipment maintenance, cleaning, and sanitization
Inventory and raw materials management
Creating and maintaining SOPs
Cleaning and sanitation
Collaborating with brewery partners and community events
Ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards
Occasional customer engagement in taproom or events
Qualifications
5+ years of professional brewing experience, including 2+ years in a head or senior role
Deep knowledge of brewing techniques, fermentation, post‑fermentation flavoring, split‑bath brewing and cellar operations
Experience with a 20 BBL brewhouse and related equipment (keg washer, can seamer, etc.)
Proven leadership, time management, and communication skills
Ability to problem‑solve, multitask, and work independently
Positive attitude, team‑oriented and flexibility mindset
Ability to lift 55+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
Formal brewing education or certification (MBAA, Siebel, etc.) is a plus
Job Type
Full‑time, 40 hours per week (some flexibility required based on production and events)
Benefits
Competitive salary: $65K‑72K annually (commensurate with experience) + performance‑based bonus
Fixed allowance of up to $175/month toward medical insurance
