Swim and/or Dive Coach

Position Summary
The Carriage Club is seeking an energetic, organized, and team-oriented Swim & Dive Coach to lead and develop our seasonal swim and dive program. This role is responsible for creating a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment for youth athletes while representing the Club in the Kansas City Swim and Dive League.

The ideal candidate will bring strong coaching experience, a passion for developing swimmers and divers of all skill levels, and the ability to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and member engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching

Present for all swim and dive practices for various age groups and skill levels

Develop season training plans focused on skill progression, conditioning, and competition readiness

Provide instruction in stroke technique, starts, turns, and diving fundamentals

Promote a positive, encouraging, and team-focused environment

Competition & League Participation

Prepare athletes for Kansas City Swim and Dive League meets

Coordinate and attend all dual meets, championships, and league events

Develop meet lineups, entries, and relay teams with head swim and dive coaches

Ensure compliance with all league rules, regulations, and sportsmanship standards

Member & Parent Engagement

Communicate effectively with parents, swim chairs regarding schedules, expectations, and athlete progress

Foster strong relationships with members and create a welcoming team culture

Assist in promoting participation in the swim and dive program

Staff Leadership & Coordination

Collaborate with lifeguards and pool staff to ensure safe and efficient operations

Assist in scheduling practices and coordinating staffing needs

Safety & Compliance

Ensure the safety of all participants during practices and meets

Enforce pool rules and maintain a safe training environment

Maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard Training – as applicable)

Administrative Duties

Assist with team registration, roster management, and record keeping

Coordinate practice and meet schedules with Club management

Support Club events and aquatics programming as needed

Qualifications

Previous swim and/or dive coaching experience preferred

Competitive swimming/diving background strongly preferred

Knowledge of Kansas City Swim and Dive League rules and operations is a plus

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and throughout the summer season

CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in summer conditions

Ability to demonstrate swim techniques and assist athletes in the water when needed

Assist in reading the pool for open swim, removing lane ropes and clearing the deck.

Compensation

Competitive seasonal salary, commensurate with experience

Team Responsibilities & Accountability

Attend all required trainings, in-service sessions, and meetings

Maintain current certifications (Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid)

Communicate effectively with swim chairs, Pool Manager and leadership regarding safety or operational concerns

Uphold The Carriage Club's standards of professionalism, appearance, and member service at all times

Club Culture & Expectations

Serve as a visible ambassador of The Carriage Club's commitment to safety and exceptional member experience

Enforce rules with consistency, discretion, and respect for the private club environment

Support Club events, including high-volume days such as swim parties and swim meets

Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to both safety and service
