LOCATION:
The Planetarium at the Spartanburg County Public Libraries
DATE AVAILABLE:

SALARY:
$43,888 annually (Includes generous benefits)
HOURS:
40 hours per week
Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm, 1 night per week,1 weekend out of 3. Schedule subject to change afteropening period.
(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may beasked to work other times as needed.)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education with a Master’s degree in a related field required.
Must complete pre-employment testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Creates, promotes and presents innovative programs for thePlanetarium workspaces and at off-site locations utilizing our STEAM van
Trains staff to present programs in Planetarium workspaces
Assists the Director of the Planetarium in managing the day-to-dayoperations of the Planetarium and its systems
Preparesand finalizes video presentations using video editing software
Providesexceptional customer service to all age groups while assisting patrons withquestions in person, over the phone, or electronically
Preparesand maintains Planetarium exhibits
Tracks and submits program statistics
Responsiblefor maintaining an attractive and engagingenvironment in the Planetarium workspaces
Participatesin department meetings, assigned committee meetings, and online discussions
Attendsregular training related to adult services and other library work
Constantlyremains aware of safety and security
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education with a Master’s degreein a related field required
Proficiency, comfort, and experience preparing and presentingeducational programs to individuals and large groups
Experience in formal and informal education environments preferred
Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues in a technicalenvironment
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Good time management skills and attention to detail
Ability to take direction and work independently or in a teamenvironment
Proven experience in collaborating with others to provide proper service and programs for the public
Valid Driver’s license with the ability to drive to otherlocations to provide STEAM programs
Theability to provide a 10-year good driving record. Human Resources mayperiodically check driving record, such record has to continue to be in goodstanding.
