JOB SUMMARY
The Co-op School is seeking a dedicated Lead Camp Counselor to join our team for our summer program.

Passionate about working with children

A sense of humor and joyful spirit

Minimum 3 years experience in a school, camp or childcare setting with children ages 2‑10

Experience leading groups of children and working with a co‑teacher or assistant

Strong lesson planning skills

Strong communication skills with both staff and families

Can‑do attitude and a team spirit

Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the safety and well‑being of a group of 12‑16 campers alongside 1‑2 assistant counselors

Ensure the Co‑op School’s mission and values are upheld inside and outside the camp room

Lead campers through activities in accordance with a camp schedule and weekly themes, that includes art activities, movement, guided free play and more

Plan 3 weekly activities that align with the weekly theme, or draw from the suggested activity list

Ensure the camp room is stocked with all materials needed for weekly activities; request materials from the Camp Director as needed

Send weekly emails to camp families each Thursday, and update our parent communication platform, Parent Square, with posts about what is happening at camp, three times a week

Foster an open forum of communication between the staff and all camp families

Maintain a tidy camp room, and restore shared spaces, such as our rooftop, gymnasium, and atelier

Supervise campers and uphold strict safety protocols during field trips; delegate duties to an assistant counselor and chaperones as needed

Attend a staff orientation and assist with camp room set‑up ahead of the start of the camp season

Hourly Rate: $27.00/Hour

Level: Full Time Seasonal

Mandatory New Staff Orientation: June 10, 2026, from 3:00‑5:00

Mandatory Camp Family Meet‑and‑Greet: June 12, 2026, from 3:00‑4:00

Camp Season: June 15‑August 14th, 2026

Schedule: Monday‑Friday from 8:45‑3:15, with the option of working extended day hours from 3:15‑6:15 up to 3 days/week

This Position reports directly to the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Summer Camp
