Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs students in one or more content areas (Reading, ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies). May be designated according to subject matter or content specialty. Utilizes current strategies and theories to plan and implement lessons. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs students using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstrations and other materials to supplement presentations.
Assigns lessons, corrects homework, administers tests to evaluate student progress, records results, issues reports to inform parents of progress.
Maintains discipline in the classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (e.g., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty).
Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student progress, performance, and behavior problems.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
Performs all other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T‑4 to T‑7 as required by the GaPSC.
Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven to seven and one-half hours per day. Light duty: sitting at a desk or table; intermittently standing or stooping. Light lifting or carrying twenty pounds or less.
Makes recommendations and/or decisions which usually affect the entire school.
Normal classroom/school setting.
