Job Description
To provide (under direct supervision) a variety of instructional activities to support the classroom teacher and/or interventionist working with students who are academically disadvantaged in Reading, Writing, and Math.

Base Hourly Rate:
$16.31
Class/Calendar:
A11, 9.25 months
Key Responsibilities
Work in close proximity with assigned teacher and specific students.
Assist students, individually or in groups, to reinforce skills and/or oversee learning activities.
Follow specific functions as outlined in a written plan to supplement classroom instruction.
Assist with classroom computer instruction.
Assist with translation when necessary.
Participate in professional development (site/district) to enhance ability to support student achievement.
Participate as a stakeholder in school improvement initiatives.
Complete training to assist in the administration and scoring of assessments.
Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
Perform additional related duties as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.
Assist with other duties appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be preferred at some sites.

Ability to work well with students and staff; good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate general office machines.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Works closely with special education teachers, general education staff, therapists, and administrators.
May be assigned to resource rooms, inclusion settings, or self-contained classrooms.
Supports students with disabilities, including intellectual, developmental, emotional, or physical disabilities.
Daily responsibilities may vary based on student needs, schedules, behavior, and support plans.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, and kneel frequently throughout the day.
May need to lift or assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring students to and from wheelchairs, standing frames, or other equipment (commonly 25–50 lbs, but sometimes more).
