Position Location and Details
AMI Expeditionary Healthcare seeks a qualified and experienced candidate for the post of Driver (Part-Time) for its medical facility in Sierra Leone.

Assignment Duration:
This position is available
part-time , for an indefinite period.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Safely drive an ambulance(s) for emergency and aeromedical evacuations, assisting paramedics, nurses, and doctors with patient transport, loading, and unloading, including Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) operations.
Operate vehicle(s) defensively in heavy traffic, adverse weather, and emergencies, using sound judgment to ensure safety for all passengers.
Determine and follow the fastest and safest routes, listen to traffic/weather updates, and adjust routes as needed to ensure timely arrivals.
Keep ambulance(s) and vehicle(s) clean, sanitized, and well‑maintained, performing daily inspections, regular maintenance, and always ensuring readiness.
Complete daily logbooks and maintenance checklists, report incidents, deficiencies, or vehicle damage promptly, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Transport staff, business partners, laboratory specimens, deceased patients, equipment, and other items as directed, adhering to proper protocols for sensitive or urgent deliveries.
Support expat travel, official events, and business gatherings, ensuring timely and safe transport for all assignments.
Adhere to company policies, dress code, hygiene, and local driving regulations; avoid tickets or towing and inform management of any violations.
Support operational readiness of ambulances and equipment, maintain fuel and supply levels, check for mechanical/electrical faults, and perform minor repairs as needed.
Participate in training, orientation, trauma system drills (including ALS and Mass Casualty Incident Plan roles), oxygen cylinder refills, and team operations.
Foster positive working relationships, communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and team members, and remain calm and compassionate under pressure.
Perform any other tasks assigned by management, contributing positively to the transport and maintenance team and upholding the highest standards of emergency transport services.
Required Skills and Abilities
Polite, courteous, and professional demeanor with all patients, colleagues, and supervisors.
Able to aid in the lifting and transferring of patients from beds and stretchers, as well as into and out of the ambulance.
Physically fit and emotionally resilient. Able to push, pull, or lift with assistance up to 150 pounds, and to stand for an extended period.
Able to keep calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
Comfortable working in an infectious disease hot zone.
Extensive knowledge of the operating area.
No more than one moving violation or one "at fault" accident within the past three years.
Education, Experience & Other Requirements
Must possess a valid in‑country driver’s license.
Education required: Junior or High School Diploma (BECE or WASSE) or equivalent qualification.
Years of experience needed: at least three years of continuous professional driving experience. Demonstrated sufficient recent driving experience in the last 12 months commensurate with the role.
Valid Identification Card.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training certification (if possible).
Experience working in a multi‑cultural environment.
Experience working as an ambulance driver (preferable).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position requires onsite attendance. As such, the ideal candidate will adhere to the designated work schedule within Freetown, Sierra Leone.
