Qualified candidates can expect a rate of $25-30 per hour!

The Tutorverse is hiring a classroom Teaching Assistant for our small group test-prep classes in Manhattan.

Weekdays: 3 hours shifts; after school, from 3-6p (approximately; some programs start 30 minutes earlier or later)

Mondays from 4:00-6:30pm on the Upper East Side

Tuesdays from 3:30-6:00 on the Upper East Side

Tuesdays from 4:00-6:30pm in Financial District

Tuesdays from 4:00-6:30pm on the Upper East Side

Wednesdays from 4:00-6:30pm in Financial District

Thursdays from 3:00-5:30pm in Financial District

Thursdays from 4:00-6:30pm in Financial District

Weekends: 3 to 9 hour shifts available

How You'll Contribute
As part of the team you'll:

Prepare classrooms with materials and set up, if necessary

Sign students in and out, ensuring they are picked up by the appropriate guardian

Build rapport with students by facilitating activities with the teacher, such as group work or checking homework

Monitor student behavior and speak to individuals who are disruptive

Keep a log of observations for each class to report to management

Liaise with parents and gather feedback about classes to relay to management

Serve as the on-site contact person for teachers; contact management if teacher is late, or other emergency arises

Serve as the on-site proctor during practice tests; troubleshoot any issues, such as tardiness, behavior, etc.

What We're Looking For
College students encouraged to apply! At a minimum, we're looking for:

at least some collegiate level educational attainment;

the ability to prioritize, and follow up on issues in a timely manner;

strong ability to follow instructions, to delegate, and to issue detailed instructions to students;

professional, kind, patient, and friendly when interacting with students and parents

Bonus Points For
Looking to go above and beyond? We'd love to consider:

college graduates (bachelor's degree); current students and graduates of education programs are encouraged to apply

at least one year of experience working in an academic setting; experience with middle school students preferred

comfort engaging with 7th grade-level math and English subject matter (or above) - a brief assessment will be administered during the interview process

Note that this position cannot be used for college credit, nor can it be used to fulfill student teaching requirements.
