
Rebar Fabrication Laborer

Perform a variety of material handling operations and duties, as assigned to service and assist shearing, bending, receiving, and shipping of rebar and other concrete supplies. Work involves a wide range of simple and routine to moderately complex duties, frequently working with others and receiving close directions from equipment operators and supervisors to provide prompt attention and assistance as required by shop operations and to minimize disruption to the flow of materials and production delays.
Key Responsibilities:
Work involves highly repetitive and routine duties designed to provide an introduction to the fabrication process and to learn material handling duties and simple or routine equipment operation. Requires care and constant attention to shop activities to avoid injury to self or others and to provide prompt assistance and service as needed or directed.
Work closely with rebar bending machine operators and shear operators and assist in the performance of duties as instructed. Participate in on-the-job training opportunities to learn shearing, bending, and loading operations.
Actively participate in on-the-job training programs for shear and bending machines, forklift and loading operations. Perform bends and shear operations as required or directed.
Receive training and complete certification program for forklift operation. Operate forklift, upon successful completion of certification program, and perform material handling duties necessary to supply shear line, empty shear pockets, supply bender operators with cut steel, and to load customer trailers as required or directed.
Maintain a work area and shop in a clean and orderly fashion.
Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies.
Requirements:
High School diploma, or G.E.D., required.
Must be safety oriented and committed to promoting a safe work environment.
