Current valid Colorado license with appropriate endorsement(s)

Master's degree plus additional coursework required for certification preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and manages a comprehensive and appropriate school counseling program for K-5th grade students in accordance with counseling standards.

Creates and implements an instructional framework for social emotional learning with evidenced based strategies.

Facilitates instructional best practices in collaboration with school staff and community resources when implementing lessons.

Counsels students to promote self-awareness, self-identity, and positive social and academic skills.

Informs and collaborates with students and parents about relevant test results, academic programming, behavior intervention strategies, and their impact on the overall academic success.

Create, develop, manage and meet with students and parents in regards to their 504 plans.

Provide individualized and group counseling to students identified with needs.

Develop parent and family communication, engagement opportunities, and parent programs to support the social and emotional needs of students and families.

Consults and coordinates with the district mental health team, health team, administrators, service agencies to support all students.

Participates with the administration and faculty to implement the district testing program.

Conducts suicide/threat assessments and creates and implements safety plans for students who require this.

Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events.

May require some evening or weekend hours to accommodate school events, meetings, or activities.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

189 day calendar

Exempt- Certified
