Position Overview
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks a Technologist in New York, NY to perform clinical laboratory testing used for diagnosis and monitoring of cancer patients. Responsibilities include performing general chemistry and special chemistry testing for metabolites and biomarkers found in blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other body fluids. Testing methods employ automated and manual procedures. The testing menu comprises over 300 tests, including, but not limited to:
Basic and comprehensive metabolic panels
Hepatic function panel
Toxicology and therapeutic drug monitoring
Tumor markers (CA123, CA153, PSA)
Endocrine function tests such as TSH, T3, T4
Serum and urine pregnancy testing (qualitative and quantitative)
Hormones such as PTH, ACTH, LH, testosterone
Review requisitions and orders, verify specimen accuracy, document collection information in LIS, and review all test requests for errors, omissions, and clarity. Prioritize STAT/RUSH samples and follow patient identification practices with 100% accuracy. Participate in prevention, detection, and resolution of noncompliance with departmental and institutional policies. Document all procedures in the SOP manual. Perform technical procedures according to workflow patterns. Keep patient confidentiality. Maintain equipment, perform maintenance and QC, and participate in quality improvement projects. Evaluate patient results using trends and data. Record QA issues. Resolve minor equipment problems. Follow infection control and safety regulations. Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science or closely related field and 1 year of experience in the position or related. Qualified applicant must have a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Salary
$92,098.50 - $147,400.50 per year.
Location
327 East 64th Street, New York, NY 10065. Pay Range: $47.23 - $75.59 FSLA Status: Non-Exempt.
