Experienced Finisher

Summary
The experienced finisher is expected to perform all parts of the process: grading, setup, custom formwork, concrete placement, cleaning tools, stripping formwork, and cutting slabs. The role requires strong flatwork experience and the ability to finish virtually any commercial concrete pour. Understanding the variables affecting the finishing process, effectively using hand tools and specialized machines, and communicating with supervisors, teammates, and other trades is critical. The finisher may also provide training and development to teammates who demonstrate motivation and interest in advancing their skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pour, level, and finish freshly placed concrete.

Achieve specified finishes with attention to detail and quality.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high‑visibility apparel, and additional protection as required by the task.

Work in a variable environment, both indoors and outdoors, including inclement weather and extreme heat or cold.

Communicate effectively with crew lead, foreman, and superintendent on safety, quality specifications, and problem‑solving.

Safely perform labor tasks on concrete construction sites, including using power and standard hand tools.

Utilize measurement and carpentry skills to build custom formwork.

Move materials by hand, prepare for concrete placement, install shoring, and maintain clean, well‑organized job sites.

Set up, place, and dismantle formwork and shoring, and place concrete into forms.

Use laser leveling to set up elevation specifications and establish grade lines.

Required Experience, Education, & Qualifications

2‑4+ years of consistent concrete finishing experience.

Leather work boots (steel or composite toe protection recommended).

Rubber boots.

Hand tools: hammer, hammer loop/hodler, measuring tape, speed square, finishing trowels, utility knives.

Reliable transportation to work locations.

Ability to pass drug screening.

Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Education and Experience

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Proficiency with finishing machines such as a power trowel.

Certification in equipment operations such as telehandlers and aerial lifts.

Work Environment / Physical Demand
This position works in a typical construction site environment and requires long periods of standing and the ability to lift 80 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full‑time field position. Typical hours are 45‑50 hours per week and may vary. The role requires working atypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules.

Travel
This position requires personal transportation. Travel beyond a 30‑mile radius of the main office is eligible for mileage reimbursement at the current federal rate. For trips longer than 90 miles, employees are eligible for a per diem, amount determined by the project.
