Job Summary: The Elementary Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering engaging physical education lessons for students in PK through fifth grade. The teacher will assess student abilities, monitor student progress, and provide feedback to students and their families. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education into the broader academic program and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Key Job Functions:
Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum.
Plan and conduct engaging and inclusive physical education lessons that promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Assess student abilities and progress, and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies into physical education lessons.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education with other academic subjects.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Participate in school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field
Valid state teaching certification
Previous teaching experience, preferably at the elementary level
Strong knowledge of child development and physical fitness concepts
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
