Residential Team Leader
at our Family Support Center shelter in Indianapolis. The Residential Team Leader will support the Shelter program, Shelter leadership, and the Teaching Specialists and will promote positive behavior changes for youth in the Shelter care facility through education of sound academic, social, and independent living skills.
You Will:
Staff Guidance (60%)
Clearly communicate and collaborate with all Shelter staff in order to achieve effective day to day care of children in the Shelter
Consultation with program leadership regarding hiring, training, developing and holding staff accountable to program and service standards
Encourage a positive team environment that is supportive of staff with clear expectations and accountability
Effectively coach staff on positive interactions with children while on the unit
Monitor a daily, structured routine that includes extra-curricular activities in and outside of the Shelter to promote healthy habits based on children's developmental needs
Oversee the coordination of child transportation for school, appointments, and in emergencies
Purposefully lead and support Teaching Specialists in using TFM procedures and prescribed motivation systems to make progress on each youth’s individualized behavior management plan
Diligently oversee medication administration according to agency policy and accurately maintain medication logs
Meticulously maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the Shelter in compliance with regulations
Resident Guidance (40%)
Provide support to children as outlined in each behavior care plan using the Teaching Family Model (TFM)
Carefully manage the intake and discharge of children; oversee and document family contact with children
Urgently respond to crises by identifying and implementing appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques from the TFM or prescribed in an individualized behavior support plan
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services field, Associate's degree plus two years' experience, OR qualified experience with certificate in the Teaching Family Model.
Previous leadership experience in a residential setting
You must be at least 21 years of age
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver's license with valid insurance
Capacity to develop knowledge and maintain certification of the Teaching Family Model within two years of initial TFM pre-service workshop training
