Description
The Assistant Branch Manager leads, manages and directs branch activities to meet business objectives and growth plans while ensuring sound operational performance. They are accountable for maximizing growth, revenues, quality assurance and member satisfaction consistently across the footprint, designing robust experience centers that exceed member expectations, and ensuring compliance with all banking regulations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares monthly branch reports and completes projects and assignments within timelines. Attends scheduled management meetings and trainings.

Holds frequent staff meetings and daily huddles to recognize employee achievements, discuss areas needing improvement, goal status, changes in procedures, new developments or services and to present general information.

Collaborates with the Business Development and Public Relations team to help support credit union and community events, sponsorships, on‑site select employee group functions, including membership drives, benefit fairs, and financial seminars.

Directly manages, develops, and guides branch teams focused on member retention, developing member relationships through increased household services, and acquiring new relationships. Leverages key metrics to design short‑term business plans to improve productivity, revenue, and member experience. Oversees sales, operations, security and compliance performance, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality member experience.

Builds and retains a collaborative and cohesive environment, coaching a motivated, high‑performing branch team. Conducts staff observations and provides effective feedback to support the credit union’s objectives.

Schedules and allocates resources appropriately to support a robust experience center. Develops member relationship strategies that drive production goals and aligns activities with member value.

Ensures branch compliance with credit union regulations, federal and state laws, and the regulations of the National Credit Union Administration and other agencies. Manages security, safety, and emergency preparedness, ensuring employees stay current with required training.

Performs functions for the branch manager and can fill in for peak schedules or absences across job groups within the branch, including relationship bankers and personal bankers.

Assists staff or members in researching and solving complex account problems in a timely manner with appropriate follow‑up.

Complies with all company policies, applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills
Experience

Three to five years of similar or related experience, including supervisory experience. Must understand and execute management approaches such as scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution. Demonstrated ability to generate business and lead within a sales culture. Requires practical knowledge of banking policy and procedures, deposit products, cash protocols, and operational functions.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A high school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).

Interpersonal Skills

Trust, credibility, and diplomacy are required. Must manage conversations and explanations involving sensitive or confidential matters with customers, direct reports, and outside vendors. Requires strong motivation, influence, education, and advising abilities.

Other Skills

Judgment, initiative, program implementation, and leadership toward work goals. Effective planning, organization, problem‑solving, and communication (oral and written). Ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve member problems, and maintain community relations. PC proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, and intermediate mathematical skills. Attention to detail and organizational skills.

FULL TIME POSITION

Starting Range: $52,608.94 – $58,947.37

Full Range: $50,707.42 – $76,061.13

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment and complete work on a computer for 6‑8 hours per day. Able to work extended hours or travel off site when required.

Working Conditions

Routine indoor work in a climate‑controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must perform job functions independently or with limited supervision. Read and carry out written and oral instructions, complete basic calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Communicate clearly and deliver information in a logical sequence. Handle calmly and professionally diverse personalities and maintain highest levels of customer service and discretion.
