Position Purpose
Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, and they are the face of our company—building lasting relationships with our customers.

The CDL‑A Driver is responsible for operating a tractor‑trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products to customers safely and timely, in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

Communicate and interact with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, answering questions accurately and in a timely manner.

Act as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Conduct all required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor, truck and trailer per DOT regulations and company standards, and take appropriate action as needed.

Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.

Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies.

Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.

Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices of products that have been loaded.

Complete all required paperwork for freight accurately and legibly.

Move tractor to the loading dock and attach pre‑loaded trailer as needed.

Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes and schedule.

Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.

Conduct damage‑control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removal of orders according to company policy.

Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.

Collect payment (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.

Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.

Unload damaged goods and customer returns, then complete necessary paperwork at driver check‑in.

Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.

Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log per Federal DOT, state and company requirements.

Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.

At the end of each shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

12+ months commercial driving experience.

Valid CDL‑A.

21 years of age or older.

Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).

Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.

Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.

Pass road test.

Maintain or secure a valid current DOT Health Card.

Able to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight; product typically ranges from 10–35 pounds and up to 60–90 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

6 months of delivery experience using hand truck and ramp.

Customer service‑related work experience.
