S hipping & Receiving Supervisor . The
Shipping & Receiving Supervisor
is responsible for leading all shipping, receiving, and internal material flow activities supporting plastic injection molding operations in automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely and accurate receipt of raw materials and components, on time shipment of finished goods, and compliance with customer, quality, and safety requirements. The supervisor manages hourly logistics employees and works closely with Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to support operations.
Essential Functions
Supervise daily shipping and receiving operations for raw materials, packaging, and finished automotive components.
Ensures on time shipment of customer orders in accordance with schedules, EDI releases, and customer requirements.
Oversee receipt, inspection, labeling, and storage on incoming materials and tooling.
Verify accuracy of shipping documents, bills of lading, packing slips, and ASN documentation.
Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and traceability per customer and automotive standards.
Coordinate freight carriers, dock schedules, and loading/unloading activities.
Manage inventory blow between warehouse, production, and staging areas.
Maintain FIFO, lot control, and material traceability requirements.
Support compliance with IATF 16949, customer specific requirements, and internal procedures.
Address shipping discrepancies, shortages, damages, and customer claims.
Lead cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities.
Partner with Quality on containment, holds, and nonconforming material processes.
Enforce company policies and procedures related to safety, attendance, discipline, and performance.
Train, coach, and develop shipping and receiving team members.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, space utilization, and error reduction.
Enforce OSHA and company safety policies within shipping, receiving, and warehouse areas.
Ensure safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.
Conduct safety observations, audits (EASE), and incident investigations as required.
Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and packaging.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.
3+ years of supervisory experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
Manufacturing experience required; automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge of logistics, inventory control, and materials flow in a production environment.
Familiarity with automotive quality systems (IATF 16949 exposure preferred).
Experience with ERP/MRP systems, barcoding, and EDI shipping process.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in plastic injection molding or high-volume manufacturing, preferred.
Forklift certification and dock operations experience.
Understanding of customer labeling standards (AIAG, customer-specific requirements).
Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset.

Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, and high visibility apparel.
Ability to work environments with temperature variations, dust, and industrial noise.
Ability to respond to urgent shipping issues, including extended hours of off shift support as needed.
