Assistant Women's Flag Football Coach
Job Summary
This position will prepare students to compete in the NJCAA and Tennessee Community College Athletic Association, be responsible for player development and assist the head coach with team practice, game preparations, and travel.
Job Duties
Establish a competitive and student-centered program aligned with the mission and values of Jackson State Community College Athletics
Recruit prospective student‑athletes to participate in flag football and ensure compliance with national and college policies
Instruct and teach the fundamentals of flag football techniques and strategies to prepare for competition
Coordinate travel and serve as transportation coordinator and driver
Maintain equipment and facilities
Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of flag football fundamentals and basic coaching principles
Previous playing and/or coaching experience in flag or tackle football
Ability to assist with recruiting efforts and engage with prospective student‑athletes
Strong communication and organizational skills
Commitment to supporting student‑athlete development both on and off the field
Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with team travel as needed
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Willingness to learn and adhere to NJCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or progress toward a degree in a related field (e.g., Sport Management, Education, Kinesiology)
Previous coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level
Experience recruiting or assisting with player evaluation
Experience working with female student‑athletes
Knowledge of NJCAA rules and compliance standards
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with high school coaches and community programs
Experience assisting with camps, clinics, or showcases
Basic knowledge of video, social media, or recruiting platforms (e.g., Hudl, FieldLevel)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of flag football fundamentals, strategies, and player development
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Commitment to the academic success and personal development of student‑athletes
Must be able to organize and handle all aspects of administration and adhere to the rules and regulations of Jackson State Community College, the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association and the NJCAA
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Prolonged periods of physical activity such as running, walking, moving equipment
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Prolonged periods of standing at times
Prolonged screen time
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times
Pay Rate:
$21.53/hour
